BIRDING SITES- WETLANDS BOGOTA

HUMEDAL CORDOBA

The urban wetlands of Bogota have preserved endemic fauna among which stands
out the spot-flanked Gallinule (Gallinula melanops bogotensis), Colombian Grebe (Podiceps andinus) - Extinct; Bogota Rail (Rallus semiplumbeus) - Endangered; Olive-sided Flycatcher (Contopus cooperi) - Near Threatened; Subtropical Doradito (Pseudocolopteryx acutipennis); Apolinar's Wren (Cistothorus apolinari); as an endemis of the wetland system of the Eastern Cordillera in the departments of
Cundinamarca and Boyacá.

The few wetlands that still exist in the area of Bogota and its surroundings have been considered the most threatened ecosystems in Colombia and as a result the populations of several endemic birds have dropped significantly.

Actually the Asociacion Bogota de Ornitologia, Fundacion Conejera and Adessa are working for protected the wetlands at Bogota A area the Spotlight for endemic birds from wetlands Bogota are:
